Our story / Told by CNC’s founder

An online league.
Lifelong friends.

My first trip to New York. Rangers at the Garden. People I now call my brothers.
All because of online hockey.

Before CNC

It started
with WoCHL.

My first league was WoCHL, and I loved being part of it. What began as online hockey turned into lifelong friendships. Eventually, I was meeting those friends in person and watching the Rangers with them at Madison Square Garden.

Two of my favorite WoCHL chat rooms were called Chirps and Cheers. When I started my own league, I brought those names with me. Chirps N Cheers was a way to carry forward the part of that community I loved.

I was disappointed by how WoCHL ended. To me, people got in their own way, and the vision I’d hoped for never came together. The friendships, though, lasted long after the league.

Before that trip, I’d never been that far east. Suddenly I was in New York, trying disco fries, seeing the Statue of Liberty and finding my way around downtown. I walked the blocks and even joined a pickup basketball game in a park. Online hockey had opened up a whole part of the world to me.

I also visited the memorial where the Twin Towers once stood. I brought home a flag that had flown over it, boxed with the date it flew. It’s still in my basement—a reminder of a trip I might never have taken without those friendships.

The reason behind all of this

“This league means more to me than just hockey.
It’s the people.”

I think of ThillyGuth and CrippleStreets, my brothers; PARMAJAWN and TJ; Re_Pete and his wife; my boy Avi; Dr B, Petey’s brother; and Sweet Kait, Johnny’s wonderful lady. They’re the people who made those trips what they were.

The memories go well beyond the rink: stops at Plaza Bagels, the Yankees, Princeton football games and nights at the pub. There was the Jimmy Eat World concert, and singing “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” at full volume in the truck while tailgating outside MetLife Stadium. Add coffee Patrón and three-in-the-morning stories that still make us laugh, and you get a sense of what these friendships mean to me. That’s the community I want CNC to keep bringing together.

September 2026 / Coming back

People wanted
CNC back.
Well, here we are.

Still part of our story.

When I sold CNC and stepped away, I hoped it would keep growing. It changed hands several times, and eventually things stopped happening. But people kept asking for CNC to come back. In September 2026, that became the next chapter.

I’m bringing CNC back with a new vision and a new website, starting with hockey. In time, I want players in other sports to find their place here too—and have the chance to build the kind of friendships that brought me this far.

A big part of that vision is the verification system I designed for CNC. It brings together account, phone, console and YouTube upload checks to support fair competition and better records of who participates. It’s part of building a league people can trust.

I know how much an online league can mean to someone. I have the friends, the photos and the memories to prove it. That’s why I’m doing this again.
